Caulfield Racecourse is steeped in history with racing first being held at the site in 1859. In Caulfield’s early days of racing, jockeys rode through rough bush, heath, and sand hills earning Caulfield its affectionate nickname “The Heath”. The Heath at Caulfield Racecourse now fondly carries this nickname.


Many things have changed at Caulfield over the last 150 years however the boutique style and enthralling thoroughbred racing that Caulfield is renowned for has not changed.


Caulfield Racecourse is one of Australia’s most well known and respected race tracks. This hallowed turf, plays host to some of Australia’s leading races including the BMW Caulfield Cup, Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Stakes and The Age Caulfield Guineas.


Caulfield boast a number of great facilities for its Members as well as the general public. The magnificent Rupert Clarke grandstand is glassed in for added comfort during winter and summer offering uninterrupted views of the mounting yard, home turn and winning post.


The pinnacle of racing at Caulfield is the BMW Caulfield Cup Carnival in Spring, comprising three days of outstanding racing through The Age Caulfield Guineas Day, Schweppes Thousand Guineas Day and culminating in the BMW Caulfield Cup Day, featuring one of the world’s great 2400m Handicap races.


The Festival of Racing at Caulfield features Victoria’s richest event for two-year-olds – the Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Stakes. Other time-honoured Autumn highlights include the Sportingbet C.F. Orr Stakes, Sportingbet Oakleigh Plate and Futurity Stakes.


In addition to the racing at Caulfield, many well known Victorian trainers and over 500 horses call Caulfield home.
