New Caulfield Track Hits 50
9 May 2008
Tomorrow's Thoroughbred Club Cup Day meeting marks the 50th Melbourne Racing Club fixture at Caulfield since the track reopened on C F Orr Stakes Day in February 2006 following extensive renovation. During this period, the Club also hosted two Victoria Racing Club meetings during the Flemington track renovation and these are not included in this statistic.
"The performance of the renovated Caulfield track over the past fifteen months has exceeded our Club's expectations," Melbourne Racing Club Chief Executive, Warran Brown, commented.
"The consistency and fairness of racing conditions throughout has justifiably earned the confidence of all sectors of the Industry," he added.
Tomorrow's meeting also marks the second annual Thoroughbred Club Cup Day, an initiative which made a very successful beginning last year.
The Melbourne Racing Club has enjoyed a long-standing association with the Thoroughbred Club of Australia – a partnership spanning the past four decades, which has included the hosting of the Thoroughbred Club’s Caulfield Cup and Blue Diamond luncheons at Caulfield.
This race day sponsorship initiative provides the opportunity for the Thoroughbred Club to also involve several of its associates and supporters to share in the experience through sponsorship of races throughout the programme.
Organisations supporting the Thoroughbred Club in such a way this year are No Fuss Solutions, Winning Edge Presentations, Bayside Chrysler Jeep & Dodge, L. U. Simon Builders, BTB Australia and Sky High Mount Dandenong.
Racecourses manager, Jason Kerr, provided an updated track report this morning. The track is currently rated a Dead 4 with a penetrometre reading of 5.33 and the rail is in the 5 metre position. Caulfield has received 11.8mm of rain in past seven days.
