Dear Members,
Members Joy commenced her pre-training at Peter Morgan's water farm today, after a six week break at Aquanita Racing agistment property, Stonehedge Farm in Drysdale.
She will spend approximately four weeks at Morgan's water farm, before being transferred to the our Caulfield stable to start full work.
The next few weeks will consist of work on the water walker daily for the first part, then the above ground treadmill will be thrown into the mix on alternate days.
Members Joy did well during her break and if all goes to plan she will be ready for the early three-year-old races in the 12-13 season.
Best Regards,
Robert Smerdon

The MRC Members’ Horse Club offering continues to deliver despite our flagship horse, Members Joy, enjoying a well deserved, Autumn break at Aquanita Racing’s agistment property in Drysdale on the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula.
Ten lucky members were selected from the MRC Members’ Horse Club to enjoy an insider’s tour of the picturesque spelling farm, taking in all the fantastic facilities offered to racehorses spelling, babies preparing for their careers on the track, and broodmares.
The key motivation for the MRC Members’ Horse Club excursion was to check the progress of our grey pocket dynamo, Members Joy, who gave all her owners a thrilling ride in her first campaign of racing.
Aquanita Racing Manager, Sam Doran, headed the tour and was glowing in his assessment of Members Joy.
“Members Joy looked great and is really relishing her time away from the racetrack,” Doran said.
“There is no doubt that you will see a more complete racehorse when she returns to the stables to begin her next preparation.”
Members Joy is expected to return to her Caulfield stable during April, where she will then be primed for the late-winter two year-old races and hit the spring with a strong fitness base for an assault on the early feature, Spring three year-old races.
The tour was rounded out with lunch at Bellarine Estate Winery, where Members enjoyed a scrumptious two-course lunch, accompanied by the finest local wines and live music.
“The food, wine and the service was outstanding!” Doran declared.
MRC Members Horse Club ownership is included in your Melbourne Racing Club membership, so all members please continue to log on to http://www.melbourneracingclub.net.au/members/benefits-and-privileges/horse-club for more MRC Members Horse Club news and events.
